A student participating in the interscholastic athletic program must be a bona fide student as defined in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association handbook and registered for school during the first 15 days of the semester, enrolled in and actually takes at least four subjects, including physical education, and is in regular attendance at least 90% of the school calendar year. Bona fide absences caused by personal illness are expected.
Students are eligible for interscholastic competition in grades 9-12 until their nineteenth birthday. If they reach the age of 19 after September 1, the student may continue to participate for the remainder of the school year.
All student athletes must have a physical exam prior to participation in a practice. A physical is good for one year from the date of the exam.
In addition to being eligible for modified competition, seventh and eighth grade student may participate on a junior varsity of varsity team if they are approved by school medical personnel and meet the Athletic Placement Process standards set by New York State for that sport and level.
