Dear Parents and Guardians,
It is an honor to introduce myself as the new principal of Winchester Elementary School and to join this extraordinary school district. I have heard wonderful things about Winchester’s tight-knit and proud community, and I cannot wait to join this team on October 22, 2018.
I have been dedicated to the field of education for more than fifteen years, and have worked with a variety of students ranging in age from Kindergarten through and including college. My most recent administrative experience was at Orchard Park High School, where I served as a House Principal and oversaw building safety, New York State exams, and Academic Intervention Services. Prior to that, I worked with twelve elementary buildings in the Albany City School District. As the English Language Arts and Reading K-12 Instructional Supervisor, I worked with teachers to build a K-5 English Language Arts curriculum and a comprehensive Response to Intervention program.
Not only am I eager to begin working with your children, but I look forward to the work we will do together. I believe in a strong partnership between the school and its parents, as we all work together to shape our students. I understand the perspective of many parents, as I am the mother of two young boys. My son Warren began his school career this September when he started Kindergarten, and cannot wait to learn how to read “big kid books.” Christopher, his younger brother, is in preschool and enjoys learning all about colors and letters, and playing with his new friends. I am excited to introduce my children to the many wonderful families of Winchester at the October 12th Fall Festival!
I am looking forward to a positive and successful school year! My door is always open and I welcome your input as we work together to meet our students’ needs and lead them towards academic excellence.
IMPORTANT SCHOOL INFORMATION
Safety is always our first concern and we remind all parents and visitors that during our school hours of 8:40 a.m. to 3 p.m. anyone entering the school must enter and exit through the Main Door (Door #1). All parents, guardians and visitors must also show photo ID (Driver’s License or other photo ID) upon entering the school. This is for the protection of all of our children throughout the school day.
Tardy students must sign in with the attendance clerk accompanied by a parent or guardian in order to receive a pass to proceed to classrooms.
If your child has an appointment during the school day or will be in need of getting picked up early from school, please send a note to school with your child. It is critical that the main office has this information so that we can accommodate any requests.
