• A National Academy Foundation Program

    The Academy of IT/Digital Media connects students with the world of Information Technology and Digital Media. The curriculum covers an Introduction to IT, Web Page Design, Programming, Digital Media, App Development, Gaming, and other topics.  Students who successfully complete the AOIT/DM requirements receive a Regents Diploma with Technical Endorsement and a certificate of IT/Digital Media Studies issued by the National Academy Foundation.  Students will learn transferable skills and knowledge with a focus on the Information Technology and Digital Media industries.  AOIT/DM members will create an Employability Portfolio and participate in industry sponsored activities including field trips, shadow days, classroom speakers, paid internships, and may earn college credit for courses.

    Students who are in this Academy will have the opportunity to take college courses.

    Students also have the opportunity to take BEEP (Business & Education Employability Portfolio).  In this course, students create a portfolio and learn how to make their skills and experiences a marketable commodity for colleges and employers.

    • One of our nation's greatest workforce needs is in the area of digital and information technology.
    • According to the United States Department of Commerce Office of Technology Policy, the increasing use of technology in the workplace is projected to lead to faster than average growth in this occupation.
    • Employment of Information Technology personnel is expected to grow 16% during the 2010-2020 decade, which is faster than the average of all occupations.  
    • The Academy of Information Technology will consist of a 9-12th grade curriculum aligned with relevant academic, employment and workplace standards.
