• The West Seneca Central School District is conducting a survey to measure school climate as part of the ESSA requirements related to the school accountability system. We believe that multiple measures depict a more accurate representation of the overall effectiveness of the school district. Adding school climate to the existing academic test measures and graduation rates will help us determine how we can improve as a learning community.

There are three separate metrics that make up the measure of school climate:

    • Chronic absenteeism- The percentage of students who are absent ten percent or more of the possible school attendance days.
    • VADIR- The number of violent and disruptive incidents that occur in each school annually is the second element on which data will be reported.
    • Perception data-The perception of students, parents, teachers, and support staff on the overall climate of the school with which they are associated.
