Art Portfolio Development Supply List
Due to budgetary constraints, we are unable to provide all the necessary materials to complete the scheduled projects this year. Therefore, students taking art classes will be expected to provide some of the more consumable materials we will be using this year. All the materials listed below can be purchased for nominal fees at most discount arts and crafts stores (Michaels [McKinley Mall], Hobby Lobby [McKinley Mall] & Office Max [West Seneca]).
1. SKETCH BOOK – spiral bound 11”x14” (preferred size) white paper
2. SUPPLY BOX - large enough to hold all of your supplies
3. 2 POCKET FOLDER – to keep rubrics & class notes
4. DRAWING:
-
Graphite - weighted drawing pencils (2H – 6B) or woodless pencils
-
Charcoal - vine charcoal
-
Pen & Ink - very fine & fine tip black permanent marker (Sharpie)
-
Pencil Erasers (soft white plastic, art gum, kneaded)
5. PAINTING:
-
Paint Brushes: Generally, brushes come in two basic categories; sables (soft), and bristles (stiff). I recommend that you purchase a pack of small to medium-sized soft brushes in a variety of sizes and shapes (rounds and flats).
-
Oils - students will need to purchase a beginner set of oils.
6. PORTFOLIO: Each student will need a selection of matte board and a portfolio in which to present their final project (if a student does not wish to purchase a portfolio, one can be constructed out of available materials).
The items on this list are given in order of the projects they are needed for. Advanced notice will be given to each student when the supplies are necessary for class work. Therefore, it is not necessary to purchase all the supplies at the beginning of the year. Some projects will be subject to change.
