PBIS: Postive Behavior Interventions & Supports
Northwood’s Code
Our Shining Stars will: Be safe, Be kind, and Ready to Learn.
Northwood Elementary School is committed to supporting children academically, socially, and emotionally. Through a PBIS approach (Positive Behavioral Intervention Supports), Northwood has adopted school-wide expectations and a “code” to assist with improving the climate and culture of our building.
By using a common language, we will build a cohesiveness among all students in every learning environment. Throughout the year, all grade levels will participate in assemblies and “town hall” meetings to learn our code, voice & speed levels, and school-wide expectations.
By creating a school-wide set of expectations, we will:
- Create a positive school culture
- Increase school safety
- Improve student-to-staff interactions
- Lessen discipline referrals
- Improve academic engagement
Our goal, as always, is to work together as a school community to build a better future for your children. Together, with a common language and approach, we will solidify what is means to be a Northwood shining star.
