West Senior student organizes Thanksgiving food drive, meal distribution
Senior Daniel Boody is reaching out to the West Seneca Community this holiday season to help those in need.
“I truly love participating in community service projects,” Boody said, adding that community service drives him to do better academically and mentally.
The West Senior student asked his teachers to spread the word about a food collection event he has organized.
Boody will collect food items like boxes of stuffing, potatoes, cranberry sauce and canned vegetables from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Thursdays, Nov. 5, 12 and 19 at Winchester Community Church, 909 Harlem Road.
“A few weeks ago I lost a close friend from church who was 91 years old, Jean Panfil. She always came in with the biggest smile, with a cane and a wheelchair, always bringing in groceries for those that couldn't get to the store or didn't have the money,” Boody said. “She was one of my biggest inspirations in my life. This has really inspired me to want to do more.”
A Thanksgiving meal distribution will take place Saturday, Nov. 21 at Winchester Community Church, 909 Harlem Road, in partnership with Tops Markets.
“If you are in a tough time, I invite you to this event and hope it brings some normalcy during this crazy pandemic to your holiday,” Boody said.
