Skilled trades: Preparing students for life after high school

The West Blue Committee of West Senior High School sponsored a Career Breakfast highlighting various skilled trades on Wednesday, Feb. 13.

More than 20 students in grades 11 and 12 had the opportunity to listen to presentations from four panelists representing fields such as bus mechanics, professional painting, helicopter mechanics, heating, plumbing, electrical work, contracting work, and beauty and esthetics.

One of the best, most universal messages students heard was that no matter what path they choose after high school, there are many opportunities available for everyone, and that happiness with your career is the most satisfying and most important factor.  The committee said it was a refreshing and inspiring morning for all in attendance.

Featured presenters included Michael Lagoda, Troy Morgan, Santiago Negroni and Alessandra Reino.
