    Maurice have been a tremendous addition to our team this year. He has really stepped up with the departure of Juston, replacing him at the Point Guard position, a position he has never played before. In the midst of figuring out our new identity, he has help lead is in the turnaround.

    Throughout the month of December, Sam has been a good captain. From the beginning of the season until this past winter break, he has stepped up in meet s and showed good leadership to his teammates. “As a senior Sam has accepted the challenge of helping his teammates in practices and pushing himself in during the meets”.

    ACCOMPLISHMENTS DURING DECEMBER: Kyle was All-ECIC with a 2nd Place finish at the ECIC Varsity Championships, Placed 3rd at the Akron Holiday Tournament

    OTHER ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Co-Captain of the Varsity wrestling team- Kyle has a team leading 24-4 record

    COACH’S QUOTE ABOUT THE ATHLETE: Kyle is one of the hardest working wrestlers on the team.  He also put in a lot of time in the off-season to prepare for his senior season which have paid off with over 20 wins so far this season.

    ACCOMPLISHMENTS DURING DECEMBER

    On Saturday, December 15th at the Section VI A/C Dual Divisional held at Buffalo State College’s Sports Arena, he placed third in the Boys 3200 meter Run crossing the line in 10:21.5 which surpassed the Section VI Championship qualifying time.

    On Friday, December 21st at the Section VI C/F Dual Divisional held at Fredonia State College’s Steele Hall, he placed third in the Boys 1600 meter Run crossing the line in 4:47.93 FAT which surpassed the Section VI Championship qualifying time.

    On Saturday, December 29th at the Section VI Western New York Large School Relays held at Houghton College’s Kerr-Pegula Field House, he was the fastest member of our Boys 4 by 800 meter Relay team which also raced to its fastest performance of this season thus far. At this same competition, he was also a member of the third place finishing Boys Distance Medley Relay as he led off racing the 1200 meter distance.

     Tyler is a boys Co-Captain.

     Tyler leads our Boys team in both the 1600 meter and 3200 meter Runs as well as owning the fastest 800 meter time among our boys as a member of the 4 by 800 meter Relay team.

    Tyler has had his best December of racing in his career thus far.  He has been as reliable as he ever has been in every race he’s been entered in crossing the finish line with superb performances to start his final high school indoor track season.

    ACCOMPLISHMENTS DURING DECEMBER

    Kyle leads the team in goals with 13 in just 10 games and is tied for first on the team with an impressive +17 plus/minus rating.  These numbers along with his play in the defensive zone and his leadership both on and off the ice have led West to a 7-2-1 record in December and the #3 ranking in New York State

    NAME: Kaitlyn Morris

    GRADE: 12th

    ACCOMPLISHMENTS DURING DECEMBER:

    Kaitlyn scored 6 goals and has 3 assists.

    Kaitlyn has stepped up as a leader on and off the ice. She is a dedicated player that works hard every time she is on the ice.

    Player: Caitlyn Nowak 12th

    Caitlyn Nowak will be attending Daemen next Fall and will be bowling for them.  She bowled her highest set against Lancaster with a 670.  Her high game was a 256 in the month of December.  She placed second out of hundred bowlers in the Festival of Lights over the Christmas break with a 1223 set.  She’s a hard worker at practices and in the games.  Caitlyn always willing to help out other players in practices to make them better.  She is very dedicated to bowling as she does it year round.

    Meghan has been a dominate force for us thus far this season.  She has worked very hard be a threat on both ends of the court this year.  Her presence inside on the court has helped give our team a lot more options offensively.

    ACCOMPLISHMENTS DURING DECEMBER

    On Saturday, December 15th at the Section VI A/C Dual Divisional held at Buffalo State College’s Sports Arena, she won the Girls 600 meter Run in her first ever effort at this distance while placing second earlier in this same competition in the Girls 3000 meter Run crossing the finish line in 11:28.3 which surpassed the Section VI Championship qualifying time.

    On Friday, December 21st at the Section VI C/F Dual Divisional held at Fredonia State College’s Steele Hall, she placed third place in the Girls 1000 meter Run crossing the finish line in 3:19.03 FAT where she surpassed the Section VI Championship qualifying time.

     On Saturday, December 29th at the Section VI Western New York Large School Relays held at Houghton College’s Kerr-Pegula Field House, she raced to her lifetime best time of 5:11.50 FAT as a member of the winning Girls 1500 meter Run Tandem Relay. At this same competition, she was also a member of the second place finishing Girls Distance Medley Relay racing the 400 meter leg. Her efforts helped her teammates placed second overall at this competition.

    OTHER ACCOMPLISHMENTS

    Sarah currently leads our Girls team in the 600 meter, 1000 meter, and 1600 meter Runs.

    Sarah has enjoyed her best start to the indoor tracks she has ever had. She is proficiently developing and demonstrating an abundance of strength and range across the distances she’s raced. Her best running still lies in her future.
