    ACCOMPLISHMENTS DURING April:  in 4 of our 7 games, Rachel is leading the team at the plate with .545 batting average, a .583 OBP and a .818 slugging average.  Rachel has 1 RBI, 1 double, and 1 triple.  Rachel has missed 3 games due to injury but since returned.  Currently she has had only 3 errors and defensively has played shortstop, centerfield and pitched.

     

     COACH’S QUOTE ABOUT THE ATHLETE:  Rachel has stepped up her game in all aspects this season.  She is a team captain who is taking charge on and off the field and continues to lead the team offensively.  Not having Rachel in the lineup for 3 games changes the dynamics of the team.  Rachel plans to attend St. John Fisher next fall and play softball there.

    ACCOMPLISHMENTS DURING APRIL

     *Samantha scored five (5) Varsity points in tying for fourth in the High Jump and placing fifth in the Discus this past Saturday at the 6th West Seneca West Track and Field Classic helping her other 22 teammates to defend their overall girls team title against the other 18 girls programs represented.

     *Samantha scored seven (7) crucial Varsity points against the visiting and previously undefeated Bulldogs of Hamburg on Tuesday, April 24th to help her team remain undefeated thus far in ECIC Division II competition this spring season.  Samantha placed second in both the High Jump and the Shot Put while placing third in the Discus against Hamburg.  Her throw of 29’ 0” in the Shot Put was a personal best.

     *On Saturday, April 21st at the 3rd Wolverine Track and Field Invitational held at Niagara Falls High School, Samantha cleared her highest height ever of 4’ 8” in the High Jump qualifying herself for the first time ever in this event for the Championship portion of our season.

     *Samantha scored elven (11) Varsity points against our Cross Town Cup Series rival Trojans of West Seneca East on Wednesday, April 11th to help her team begin this spring season undefeated in ECIC Division II competition.  Samantha won the High Jump and placed second in the Shot Put and Discus.

     OTHER ACCOMPLISHMENTS

     *Samantha has amassed more Varsity points to this point in this 2018 season than she had earned all of last spring 2017 season during her freshman year of Outdoor Track and Field.  Between ECIC Division II competitions and Invitationals, she has currently earned 23 Varsity points in comparison to the 15 total she has all of last 2017 spring season.  In fact, she is currently our third highest Varsity point scorer through the two ECIC Division II competitions we’ve participated in this season.

    Samantha has become more versatile this season and is training at an even better rate than she did last spring season.  Her greatest attribute is that she is supremely coachable and passionate about competing at a higher level than she has in the past.  She is developing into one of our best all-around student athletes at West Seneca West.

    ACCOMPLISHMENTS DURING MONTH

    Tyler has put together a strong opening month of our season.  He won the 3200m and was the fastest leg of the winning 4x800m relay against West Seneca East and was a double winner in the 1600 and 3200m against Hamburg helping lead the team to victories in both contests.  At the 3rd annual Niagara Falls Wolverine Invite, Tyler placed 4th overall in the 1600m and also ran a personal best split time in the 4x400m relay.

    Tyler quietly puts together solid performances every time he takes the track.  He is always at practice and always performs the practice plan as it was designed.  This level of "buy in" has helped him spearhead a strong start to the season for our distance runners.  Tyler's progression throughout the season will go a long way towards determining the team's overall success.

    ACCOMPLISHMENTS DURING MONTH 25 goals 3 assists over 8 games.  Broke the School Record for career goals (former record was 81 goals, Jesse has 84 total career goals as of 4/25/18).

    COACH’S QUOTE ABOUT THE ATHLETE Jesse has been on varsity since he was a sophomore.  Even as an underclassmen, you could tell he wanted to be a leader and contributor.  In both his Sophomore and Junior years, he finished in the top three in terms of individual goals and overall points. For the 2018 season, he is currently the leader in goals and points.  Jesse possesses a blue collar work ethic that makes him so successful.  As our offensive leader and go to guy, he is constantly on the field.  When we are looking for a spark, Jesse is usually the one to respond
