Dear Parents: August 2018
Our Parent-Teacher Guild is presently in the process of preparing another exciting and meaningful year of participation in the education of our children. 2018-2019 promises to be a year in which we can build upon past success and grow as an organization as we offer greater opportunities for student enrichment.
There is a phrase from folklore, "It takes the whole village to raise a child." At West Seneca West Senior High School, we believe that children need the support of their community as well as the school. For this reason, we welcome the participation of parents, community members and business representatives on our building's shared decision-making teams.
In the past few years, we have greatly expanded the number of committees that have provided a wealth of new opportunities for students, including scholarship fund raisers, social events, links between the student and the world of work, and expanded recognition programs. In the coming school year, we hope to further develop student-learning opportunities to supplement our academic program, but we need and welcome the active participation of the community-at-large.
To highlight our effort to build bridges between the home and school, we are continuing an important theme which describes the relationship between the home and West Senior:
"West Senior ‑ A Parent Participation School"
But, we want more than a theme. We would like to involve the community in a true partnership, where the participation of the community enriches the education of our students. We are therefore inviting you to participate on one of our building or P.T.G. committees.
Please consider helping us in our efforts to offer West Senior students the very best total educational experience possible.
We have appreciated the support of our parents and community in the past and we are anxious to have you share your ideas with us. To be blunt, we want and need your involvement.
The next page in this mailing entitled "West Senior Committees in Need of Community Participants", describes some of our decision-making committees. Please take a moment to consider joining one of them. If you are interested, please mail the enclosed sign-up sheet to Mr. Brinker at the address above, or call the main office at 677-3350 by September 14th.
Sincerely,
Mr. Jay S. Brinker Mrs. Danielle Gundel (716) 675-1923
