Classroom News

  • Welcome to the News page!

Communication is a key to any class. Under this section, you may find current and archived news and newsletters, upcoming events and important dates.

Our class project is complete! Stop down in front of Room 5 to see the "One Classroom, Many Cultures" project that features English Language Learners and where they are from in the world :)

Students, families, and staff came together from across the district to celebrate the languages and cultures of our diverse population! The ENL Family Potluck Dinner Night is an annual event that takes place in the fall. This year, East Middle School hosted the wonderful event. Thank you to everyone who attended and made this year a HUGE SUCCESS! Looking forward to next year's event :)

Look! We were even in the news!

As a way to recognize Veteran's Day, students wrote thank you letters to Project Gratitude, an organization dedicated to recognizing all those who have served. The letters were sent along with leftover Halloween candy and special treats. Thank you to our past, present and future heroes!

Another successful ENL Family Night is in the books! We currently have 63 ELLs in the program from countries all around the world, including Bangladesh, Bosnia, China, Dominican Republic, Egypt, India, Iraq, Nigeria, Poland, Puerto Rico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Thailand, Yemen and Vietnam! As a way to celebrate the multiple cultures in the district, we welcomed the new ELLs and their families to the district and provided an opportunity for families to meet teachers and administrators. The ENL Department holds this dinner annually in the fall. If you didn't make it this year, mark your calendar for next year!
