About Me :)

  •

Hello! My name is Mrs. Nowak and I am the English as a New Language Teacher at East Middle School. As your child's teacher, I would like to share a little bit about myself.

I grew up in Hamburg, NY, where I graduated from Frontier High School in 2007. I continued my studies at The State University of New York at Brockport, where I majored in French Adolescence Education and Special Education Grades 7-12. During my undergraduate career, I studied and lived abroad in France. I completed a semester in the beautiful southern town of Avignon. A year later in 2011, I received a Fulbright Scholarship to teach English in France. Over the course of four months, I taught English to elementary, middle, high and Master students in Bourges and Chateauroux, France. It was one of the best experiences in my life!

I graduated with my Bachelors degree in 2012 and for three years taught French, Spanish and Special Education throughout Western New York. For two and a half years, I had the opportunity to teach French Grade 7 at East Middle School. I successfully completed my Masters degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages or TESOL at SUNY Fredonia in December 2016. That was my biggest accomplishment!

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I absolutely love to travel and am always looking for my next adventure! I enjoy the beach, camping, and exercising! Summer and fall are my favorite seasons; unfortunately I am not a fan of snow. I was recently married to my husband, Steve, in the Dominican Republic.

This is my third year teaching ENL and I LOVE it! I work with students in Grades 5-8 from countries all around the world. I am very lucky to teach to such a diverse population and also learn about new languages and cultures from my students. I am looking forward to a fantastic year of learning with your child :)

Our classroom is located in Room 5. I invite you to come visit at any time!

    Sincerely,
