  • Bella (Puppy Place Series)

    Bella (Puppy Place Series)

by Ellen Miles (review by Ava) Year Published:
You should read Bella in the puppy place series by Ellen Miles! The genre of this amazing book is realistic fiction. It has fantastic book with awesome characters, and a great theme. My first reason why my book is fantastic is the characters! The main characters are Lizzie Peterson and Charles Peterson. She loves to foster puppies and make sure they have a good home to stay for life! Also, Lizzie helps out an animal shelter. Charles helps out Lizzie and Charles is Lizzie’s brother. As you can see, the puppy place has awesome characters. A second reason why my book is fantastic is the beautiful settings! The settings are at the animal shelter and at Lizzie and Charles house! At the animal shelter there is something serious that is going on! Bella is sick and she needs every body’s help or else she will pass away! In Lizzie’s and Charles house they are trying to make sure Bella gets better. As you can see, the setting is beautiful! A third reason why my book is fantastic is the theme! The theme is love! Lizzie’s mom let Bella stay at their house so they can take care of her. Finally, Bella came! Lizzie held her lot! When Lizzie had to put her down to do some chores Lizzie put Bella down and Bella started to cry for Lizzie! So Lizzie had to go back and hold her! Bella fell asleep so Lizzie could finally put her down to continue her chores. As you can see, the characters, setting, and theme are amazing in this book! I recommend this book to people who like to read about animals.

  • Diary of a Wimpy Kid- Long Haul

by Jeff Kinney (review by Alex A.) Year Published:

One of my favorite books is Diary of a Wimpy Kid Long Haul By Jeff Kinney. The genre of my book is realistic fiction. This book is awesome because it has good characters, it’s funny and it’s weird. A great reason to read this book is that it has great characters. Greg’s older brother Rodrick is really hilarious and pranks his brother Greg a lot. His brother Greg is really wimpy and not attractive. His dad gets really mad over everything and he likes to play with Gettysburg soldiers replicas. Another reason to read this book is that it is weird. One thing is that they go to a hotel and meet a family called the Beardos and they go to a fair and see them their too. They go to the water park and see them there too. Another reason to read this book is that it’s funny. One thing is that they win a baby pig by guessing a big pig’s weight. But they don’t want the pig but the crowd starts chanting, take it take it! Also they lock their keys in their car so they lever Manny in and he eats all Greg’s Oreos. In conclusion, you should check out the book Diary of a Wimpy Kid Long Haul. It has cool characters, it’s weird, and it’s funny. In my opinion, it is a really awesome book.

I read a really funny book called Diary of a Wimpy Kid Old School by Jeff Kinney. The genre of my book is realistic fiction. This book is awesome because it’s weird, has good characters, and it is hilarious. One reason why you should read this book is it is weird. There is a kid named Fregly that eats his boogers and asks “Does this scab smell funny?” Also the family has a pet pig that watches TV. The second reason why you should read this book is it has good characters. For example, there is the main character Greg who is really lazy and loves video games. There is also Mom, Dad, Manny and Rodrick! Rodrick has a band called Loaded Diaper! The third reason why you should read this book is it is hilarious because the pet pig walks himself around the neighborhood and when Greg bought limes he thought they were lemons. And Rowley did not want lemon juice in his eye so he wore a pair of goggles. As you can see, you should definitely read Diary of Wimpy Kid Old School! It’s fantastic! by Dan Schneider (review by MacKenzie) Year Published:
You should read Drake and Josh Kid Trouble by Dan Schneider and George Doty IV. The genre of this fantastic book is realistic fiction. It is a funny book with creative characters and amazing settings. My first reason this book is amazing is because of the characters. One of the main characters, Josh, is funny and very interesting. Josh is always being embarrassed by his brother, Drake. For example when Drake brought a 4 wheeler to the premiere to impress Sammy and Josh didn't have anything like that so Josh was embarrassed. Also, he was embarrassed when Drake broke into Megan’s classroom with her. They messed up everything so Josh would get in trouble with Megan’s teacher. My second reason you should read Drake and Josh Kid Trouble is because of the settings. The settings are in Los Angeles, in a small house, in a movie theater, and in a high school. I like the settings because they are very unique. This book is organized by each moment at a time. Each chapter has a different setting. For instance, in chapter four Sammy and Drake are at the premiere rating girls on their cuteness. In chapter two Drake and Josh are in their English teacher’s classroom waiting to hear Drake punishment for coming into class late, and for making two girls lie for Drake to get his teacher out of the classroom. One of my favorite books is Ellie’s Story by W. Bruce Cameron. The genre of my book is realistic fiction. This book is spectacular because of it’s setting, how adventurous it is, and how emotional it is. One reason it is spectacular is because of it’s settings. • How to Steal a Dog

by Barbara O'Connor (review by Delaney) Year Published:
You should read the awesome book How To Steal A Dog by Barbara O’Connor. This realistic fiction book has great characters, creative language and a great suspense. My first reason to read this awesome book is because of the characters. My first character is Georgina and her family (toby and mama) live in a car, and Georgina makes a decision to steal a dog for reward money. Georgina is a tough girl who is sick and tired of living in a car and is pure embarrassed of it. Another great character is Toby. Toby doesn’t seem very worried about living in a car, Georgina lets him help her steal a dog. She thinks he will ruin it and tell mama , but he does good, and thinks of things Georgina didn’t think of and helps to find them too. As you can see this book has cool characters. My second reason is about creative language. When Georgina was explaining how the abandoned house looked, I could imagine how the house looked. For example ‘’the paper tar roof was covered with rotting leaves and pine needles. Prickly looking bushes grew thick and dense across the front, while kudzu vines snaked their way up the chimney and across the roof’’. Another example of what the new house is like is, ‘’when we pulled up in front of our new house me and Toby grinned at each other. It was a tiny white house with a rusty swing set in the red dirt yard and a refrigerator with no door sitting right up on the front porch. As you can see this book has creative language. For my last reason, I chose the suspense of this great book. This book will leave you in suspense. It would stop the chapter right when Georgina was going to make a big decision or would stop when Mookie was around, and when Georgina had to find something for Willy. This will book will leave you in suspense. In closing this realistic fiction book How To Steal A Dog is an amazing book. I think everyone should read it.

    I (even) Funnier

by James Patterson (review by Liam) Year Published:
I read this awesome book called I (even)Funnier by James Patterson. The genre of this book is realistic fiction. This book is amazing because it’s emotional, it’s got funny people, and because it’s funny. One reason you should read this book is because it’s emotional. A time it’s emotional is when Uncle Frankie has a heart attack. Another time it was emotional is when the doctor says Uncle Frankie will live. It’s also emotional when Jamie gets a second chance for Hollywood. The final time is when Jamie wins a second chance. Another reason you should read this book is because it has hilarious characters. One of the hilarious people is Vincent. For example at the lunch table he says what do you get when you cross beans and onions? Tear gas! The funniest is the main character Jamie Grimm (comedian in wheelchair). For example, when he is at the diner he says many people are surprised there are comedians in Russia but they are there, they’re dead but they’re there. The best reason to read this book is because it’s super funny. One time it is funny was at the diner. For example, Jamie says at the diner why did the yo-yo cross the road? Because it was walking the dog! Another time was when they were in the hallway. For example he makes jokes about his wheelchair. In closing, you should read I (even)Funnier by James Patterson. by Jerry Spinelli (review by Grace) Year Published:
Everyone should read the realistic fiction book Jake and Lily by Jerry Spinelli. This is a great book and is very interesting. It also has funny characters, a nice setting, and a great plot. My first reason this book is wonderful is because of the characters. The character Lily is very determined and brave. For example, when she and Jake were in a train station at night and they were both scared. Then they realized they were together. Also, Lily is determined to help her friend Katie build a playground for her little brother. Another reason I like this book is because of the setting. The setting is at Jake and Lily’s house. I like the setting because Lily’s birthday takes place there. The third reason I like this book is because of the plot. I like the plot because in each chapter Jake or Lily is talking. When they are talking they have a different point of view. As you can see this is a great book because of the characters setting and plot. I wish I had a twin like that.

    Avalon Web of Magic

by Rachel Roberts (review by Alex H.) Year Published:
You should read Avalon Web Of Magic by Rachel Roberts. The genre of this book is fantasy. It has a great theme and the characters are spectacular. My first reason why I like the book is because I adore the characters. Emily is a beautiful and magical person. On the other hand Kara is a dark, beautiful, and magical person with dark black hair. Emily and Kara have a lot of bravery in their blood. My second reason why I go crazy for the book is because of the theme. One theme is bravery. Bravery is to go up against warlocks and goblins like Emily and Kara did. Friendship is to stick together like Emily and Kara did. Magic is another theme. Without magic you can’t defeat warlocks and goblins. The third reason I go ballistic for this book is because of the genre. I like fantasy because it is not real and not true. Another reason why I like the genre is it has magic. It is amusing, entertaining, and funny also. In conclusion my favorite part of this book is the characters, themes, and the genre. You should read this great book Buffalo at Breakfast by Mary Pope Osborne. It has very smart and curious characters, adventurous plot, awesome setting, and cool genre. My first reason this book is great is because of the characters. Jack is very smart and knows what’s going on. In this book Jack knows that a bison can weigh two thousand pounds and be six feet high. Annie is curious and scared .In this book Annie was scared to let Black hawk on to a buffalo. The next reason you should read this great book is because of adventure. • Dream On (Whatever After series)

by Sarah Mlynowski (review by Cameron) Year Published:

You should read Whatever After Dream On by Sarah Mlynowski. The genre of this amazing book is fantasy. It is an amazing book with nice characters, and a very good setting and it’s very suspenseful. My first reason why this book is awesome is because of the characters. The main character Abby is helpful, adventurous, and nice. She has a magic mirror that takes them into a different fairy tale every time. In this book they went to Sleeping Beauty. Another character is Robin. In chapter two, Robin walks into the mirror while sleep walking. Robin changes the fairy tale by pricking her elbow instead of Sleeping Beauty. Another character is Sleeping Beauty. Her real name is Brianna. She is very funny and nice. She was sad when Robin pricked her elbow because she heard of the curse. She wanted to be woken up by a prince. As you can see, the characters are very nice and adventurous. Another reason why I recommend this book is the setting. The setting takes place in Sleeping Beauty’s fairy tale. Her castle is called Rose Abbey. There are beautiful roses everywhere. In the castle there are beautiful and fancy things all over. The time is twelve hours to get Robin up. There are many different towers and rooms in Rose Abbey. Robin got pricked in the west tower. There are four towers. There is a north tower, east tower, south tower and west tower. As you can see the setting of this book is outstanding in Rose Abbey! My last reason is the great suspense. For example, at the end of chapter two Robin pricks her elbow so you want to read on to see if she wakes up. Also at the end of the book you want to see if they get a portal back home. Also if Robin wakes up before 10 a.m. when her mom came to get her. Another thing is at the end of chapter eleven you want to see if the fairies will give them wishes. I think the suspense in this book is magnificent! In conclusion, this book is outstanding because of its nice characters, pretty setting and amazing suspense. That is why you should read Whatever After Dream On. I hope you will read it and enjoy it.

  • Fairest of All (Whatever After series)

by Sarah Mlynowski (review by Maya) Year Published:
An amazing book you should read is What Ever After Fairest of All. The author of this creative book is Sarah Mlynowski. The genre is fantasy. This book has adventurous characters, great settings, and awesome chapter endings. My first reason Fairest of All is my favorite is because of the characters. The main character of this book is Abby. Abby is very cool because she is very adventurous. She goes everywhere trying to find a way out of the place the magic mirror took her. Another character is Jonah who is Abby’s. He is very brave. Jonah thinks it is cool that a mirror sucked him into a different place where he meets Snow White. My next reason it’s a good book is that the chapter endings. The author Sara Mlynowski writes the ending of the chapters and it makes you want to read on. For example in chapter 11 it ends Abby saying “We need to save Snow story-before there is no Snow left to save.” Also I like the chapter endings because when Sarah Mlynowski ends the chapter she makes the character sound nervous or blurt out something bad and makes you want to change what happened. Another great reason it’s an awesome book is the settings! For example Abby and Jonah get sucked into a magic mirror in their basement and when they are through they are in Snow White’s world! Also Sara Mlynowski puts Abby, Jonah, and Snow White to scary places . For example after all the fun places they went with Snow White they HAVE to go to Snow’s stepmother’s castle which is a huge risk. Abby knows she can go do this and find a mirror to take her and Jonah home. As you can see What Ever after Fairest of All is an amazing book with great characters, chapter endings, and setting’s I wish I could on the adventures with them.

  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter series)

by J.K. Rowling (review by Reece) Year Published:

You should really read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling. It is a fantasy book with unique characters exciting plots and interesting themes. My first reason is because of the characters. They are brave, amusing, strong, caring and fearless! Two of my favorite characters his favorite pastime is uprooting trees! And he only knows four words. Hagrid is half giant and he is helpful, brave and silly. He makes tasty tea rock-cakes and rock- sandwiches. He has always wanted a dragon for a pet. All his favorite creatures are deadly Another reason this book is marvelous is because of the exiting plots it beholds. One of my favorite plots is the battle of Hogwarts. There are battles going on in all different rooms and hallways. The teacher’s, ghosts and children battle together as one. The ghosts drop exploding plants on the attackers and the teachers fight alongside the children in duels. The suits of armor battle while the portraits cheer them on. Giants even fight on the castle grounds! The third reason I like this book is because of the great Themes. Everyone was willing to sacrifice them-selves to protect Hogwarts all of the children fought grown death-eaters. Harry Potter even marched straight into Lord Voldemort’s hide-out he wasn’t doing anything to try and sneak in even though every death-eater was there and two 40-foot tall giants loomed down over the hide-out. So as you can see Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows is a Must-Read book.

  • Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

by J.K. Rowling (review by Mya Z.) Year Published:

You should read an awesome fantasy book called Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling. Its adventurous, has good characters, and it’s exciting. The first reason why it’s adventurous is because Harry, Ron, and Hermione go on lots of adventures to solve mysteries. Another reason is that Harry goes into the library after their curfew with his invisibility cloak in the forbidden section. The second reason is the book has really good characters. The first character is Hermione Granger. She is one of Harry’s best friends. Hermione also reads lots of books and does everything right. Almost everything right, because when the troll goes into the girl bathroom she lies to a teacher! The second character is Ron, Harry’s other best friend. Ron is very clumsy and breaks lots of stuff like his wand cracked it right in half and then taped it. The third reason is because the book is exciting. Malfoy challenges Harry to a midnight duel. But never shows up. Harry almost gets caught and expelled! Another reason why the book is exciting is because Harry get all these letters from Hogwarts. But his uncle doesn't let him read them because he doesn't want him to find out about Harry being a wizard. But then about 1,000 letters come down from the fire place and they move far away in a cottage on an island in the middle of the ocean. You should come to Hogwarts with me in the adventurous book Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. The author J.K. Rowling must have a huge imagination because this book is fantasy. In this book they have famous wizards and witches (characters)and a huge setting. Also there are really cool events. Some witches and wizards are really outstanding. A wizard named Harry potter finds out he’s famous because he survived a spell that can kill anyone. Harry Potter is brave because he stands up for his friend Hermione granger. Ron Weasley is really good at chess because he defeats a giant chess set. Also Ron loves candy because he told Harry about Every Flavored Beans. Look at the scenery at Hogwarts. There is a game called Quidditch that you can play here. It just sounds like it would be so fun. Also there is a temple that Hagrid says is a very good place to hide your stuff. Once Upon a Pet

by Shannon Hale (review by Emma) Year Published:
I read a really awesome and cool book called Once Upon a Pet by Shannon Hale. This is fantasy. This book is amazing because it has bad characters with pranks, different short story backgrounds, and animal characters. My first reason to read this is the bad characters with pranks. In one story there are two bad characters and the funny thing is they are animals. They trick another animal and person. A good guy liked to hide in cold places and pranked her owner. My second reason to read it is the different short story backgrounds. Each story has 3 to 7 pages. Also each story has a different background. One is in Ever After High. One is in the forest. My last reason to read this story is the characters. There are horses, cats, foxes and dragons. Some of the animals have powers. One is camouflage. That animal turned the color of a dress and the forest. These are reasons people should read Once Upon a Pet. They have mean bad guys, short stories and animal characters.

Percy Jackson and the Demigod Files (Percy Jackson series)

by Rick Riordan (review by Greg) Year Published:

You should read Percy Jackson the Lightening Thief by Rick Riordan. The genre of this story is fantasy. Three reasons this book is terrific are the characters, setting, adventures, and descriptive language. The characters are great because, they are creatures like Percy. If you didn’t know Percy’s dad is Poseidon that means Percy’s a demi god. Mr. Brunner, Percy’s teacher is a creature but in the begging he saved Percy with a pen that when you click it the pen turns in to a sword. This book is awesome and full of adventures. One reason is Mr. Brunner killed his teacher which was one of those bad creatures with a half sword half pen. Another reason is that Percy’s dad is a god and that makes Percy a demi god. Because, Percy is a demi god he gets to go to Camp Half Blood to train for battle. The descriptive language of this story is in one part Mrs. Dodds turned in to a scary looking creature one more part is the author describes how Nancy Bobofit is an ugly girl with crooked teeth and orange freckles that looked like somebody spray painted liquid Cheetos. In conclusion, you should read this book. I think that because of the characters, the adventures and the descriptive language it makes the book really interesting.

Everyone should read Percy Jackson and the Olympians the Lightning Thief. The author is Rick Riordan. The genre of this book is fantasy. This book has funny characters, it is adventurous, and figurative language. One reason I like this book is book is because of the charters I like Percy because he always gets kick out of school. Another character I like is Grover because he is serious by telling everyone did you do what you were supposed to do. Another reason I like this book is because of the adventurous plot .Percy goes to the mountains and a weird camp the people were starring at them quietly in a weird way. The third reason I love this book is because of the figurative language for example when little Nancy was in danger of the water pulling her in they mentioned kids whispering ‘’did you see-‘’ “-the water-‘’ “-like it grabbed her-‘’ this showed proof of how scared the kids were. In conclusion I like this book because the characters, advancers, and the figurative language I think you should read this book to find more about it.

  • Sink or Swim (Whatever After series)

by Sarah Mlyonowski (review by Brielle) Year Published:
The book Whatever After Sink Or Swim is a terrific book! It’s by Sarah Mlyonowski and its genre is fantasy. It’s a descriptive book with great characters that always leaves you in suspense! One reason this book has awesome characters is because of Lana! Lana is a mermaid who trades her voice to be a human and have legs! Lana didn’t know how to read or write so Abby had to teach her. Another great character is Eric, prince of Mustard Kingdom. Eric only cares about how pretty girls look and on the wedding Lana wouldn’t come back so he was about to marry princess of Watermelon Kingdom when he didn’t even know her! Another reason this is magnificent is because of all the suspense. The is suspense is great because on chapter 9 it leaves you hanging when Lana learns to read and write and you have to read the next chapter to find out if she learned! Also on the last page it leaves you out on the last page by saying ‘Who knows what adventures I’ll go on next,” The last reason this book is the best is because of the descriptive language. It has descriptive language because on page 72 it says “Lana was yelling at the top of her lungs and Abby thought everyone could hear!” Also on page 10 it says “He was so handsome. He had dark black, shiny hair with bright blue eyes.” Finally on page 20 it says “She had a yellow shiny tail and beautiful blonde hair.” As you can see Whatever After Sink or Swim is a terrific book because of the characters, suspense and descriptive language. You should totally read it. Especially is you love The Little Mermaid. I wish I could be in all these adventures with them!

I believe you should read the book called The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate. It is fantasy, but somewhat based on a true story. It has a good setting, great characters and a heartwarming ending. My first reason why you should read this book is the setting. Part of the setting is at the Exit Eight Big Top Mall and Video Arcade. Also the setting takes place at a zoo. My second reason why this book is interesting is because of its good characters. For instance, Ivan is a trustworthy, intelligent and has many more great traits. Ruby the baby elephant is a curios and good infant. I read a book called Heroes of The Holocaust by Allan Zullo and Mara Bovsun. The genre of my book is informational. This book is amazing because it’s action-packed, it’s sad, and it’s scary. A great reason to read this book is because it’s action-packed. My first reason it’s action-packed is there is a lot of shooting. For example, the Nazi’s took 20 people and Vera to a river they lined them up and the Nazi’s shot at Vera. She jumped in the river and didn’t get shot. She swam for a mile and got away safely. Another reason it’s action-packed is that they drop a giant bombs. For example, when Fèrenc got back to his apartment the Russians bombed his apartment and everybody in it. Another great reason to read this book is because it is very sad. One reason it is sad is that some people die. For example, a boy ran out of the stable to check on his father to see if he’s dead or not and he saw Maria Andzelm’s father dead and shouted “Mr. Andzelm is dead”. Also another reason is that it’s sad is that get taken to concentration camps. For example, Henri’s cousin Paula got taken to a concentration camp by Nazi’s. Everyone should read the book I Survived Hurricane Katrina by Lauren Tarshis. The genre of this book is historical fiction. It has characters that show bravery and strength. It also shows friendship and it is action packed. My first detail why this book is spectacular is because of its characters. The main character Barry shows bravery and strength when he fell off the roof of his house and fell into the deep water with poisonous snakes. My second detail why the characters show bravery is, when Barry fell into the water he didn’t know what to do so he decided to swim.Once he found a house he went into it. Barry didn’t know that there was a dog in the house so when Barry got in the house he saw the dog. Barry thought the dog would attack him but he didn’t. The exiting adventures in this book make you want to never stop reading. Everybody should definitely read the scary but interesting book I Survived the Attacks of September 11th, 2001.It is a historical fiction book with Lauren Tarshis writing the whole thing. She created very adventurous characters to help get the reader hooked. It also has a cool setting and interesting problem. My first reason I love this book is because of its adventurous characters. The first character is Lucas. Lucas is very brave because he had three concussions from football. The doctor said that he can’t play football again, but Lucas still wanted to play. Another reason why Lucas is brave is because when the twin towers were being attacked he didn’t scream or cry. My last reason why Lucas is brave is because he went into the city by himself without anyone knowing and he skipped school. My next reason this book is outstanding is because of the setting. The setting is different at times but I like the convenience store setting. In this book the author makes it feel like you are there in the store. It makes you feel like you have dust down your throat just like Lucas. I felt scared when I was reading the book. The other setting I liked was when Lucas and his uncle were walking down the street and started to get scared when they saw how low the plane was. I thought I was right there with Lucas. My last reason I really liked this book is because of the problem. Once again I thought I was in the story, right when the twin towers were being knocked down and when Lucas was running to his dad. Another reason was when Lucas and his dad were running away from the north twin tower when it was falling. I really liked the problem. In conclusion, I really think everyone should read this book. I mostly think so because of the characters, setting and problem.
