About Your Teacher

  • Hi! I am your teacher, Mrs. Giglio and I am excited to be your teacher this year.

    Before teaching...

I went to The State University of Fredonia and received my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and English. After completing my undergraduate degree I attended and graduated from The University at Buffalo and completed my Masters degree in Childhood Education.

    While teaching...

I have created a teaching blog and am currently the page designer of the Northwood main homepage. This year I am planning on continuing my involvement with the Junior Achievement program as well as with the West Seneca Academy of Education to work with a "teacher in training." I enjoy sharing what I do with others, I love my job and want to help share that passion with new and upcoming potential teachers.

I feel that it is important for me to be involved in all areas of education in order to help give your child a well rounded education.

I have had a lot of experience working with children of all age groups from teaching other grade levels to tutoring and coaching. .

A little about me when I am not teaching....

Once school begins I am sure the children will be happy to fill you in with any news that they find interesting from how my hair is done to when I change my toe nail polish, but for now here are the basics: I am married to Michael who is a high school English teacher in the city of Buffalo I have a  son and we live in the Northtowns.  A few of my favorites; I love going to my cottage at the beach, blogging, and relaxing with a good book though with a 3 year old that doesn't happen often! I also love reality TV and shopping is my favorite activity. My favorite color is turquoise and my favorite food are potatoes!

    My thoughts on teaching....

I love teaching! I think that it is such an important job to be someone who children will spend so much time with and impact their learning for all of their lives. The children may not remember me after all the years go by but I have the wonderful opportunity of opening the door to the imagination and learning of education and the amazing chance to help build the foundation that your child will build upon for the years to come. and I will absolutely remember them. Each child who walks through my classroom door finds a special place in my heart for life.  I hope that you and your child will enjoy our time together  as much as I do!
