Young Researchers Club
In the Young Researchers Club students have the opportunity to perform authentic bioinformatics research and interact with professional researchers from the University at Buffalo. The bioinformatics research involves using computer software to do gene annotation. A computer has determined the protein produced by a bacterial gene and the function of that protein. Students perform gene annotation to support or refute the computer determination of gene function. Students from any level in high school are welcome to join. Students interested in science, interested in pursuing science beyond high school or interested in any type of scientific research are highly encourage to join.
We meet weekly alternating between Wednesdays and Thursdays. Students come to meetings as much as they can when they are available. A missed meeting does not mean a student cannot be in the club.
