• Strategies and Suggestions for Parents:

    • Read, read, read with your child
    • Model good speech 
    • Avoid "baby talk"
    • Ask questions during and after reading a story with your child
    • Have your child retell events of a story
    • Discuss steps to complete a task
    • Constantly talk with your child about what you are doing and seeing or what they are doing and seeing
    • Expand your child's utterances
    • Play listening games such as Simon Says, Green Light or ISpy
    • Play games with basic concepts such as Hide and Seek.  Explain where an object is hidden using words like over, under, out, in, off, on, exc.
    • Rhyme with your child-read and learn nursery rhymes and sing songs
