This course is a required course for the Social Studies sequence necessary for graduation. Upon completion of this course, each student will take the United States History and Government Regents Examination.
This course is a chronological survey of United States History with an emphasis on the United States as a developing industrial nation and emerging world power. Constitutional and legal issues are explored, as well as the problems of a dynamic industrial society in an increasing complex and technologically oriented world. An emphasis will be placed on the knowledge of the United States Government structure, operation, and the circumstances surrounding its development. the basic principles of culture and the heritage upon which our nation was founded will be studied, as well as the state of our nation today and its interactions with the rest of the world.
