Grading Policy

Regular attendance, effort, and attitude are all important aspects for achieving success in art. Grades can be viewed through the parent portal on the West Seneca Schools website. Please contact me if you have any questions regarding your child's grades.
A student's grade consists of the following 5 categories:
Artwork (60%)

worth 60% of quarter average
-
students receive a grade for every art project
-
includes the following types of assignments:
-in class art projects
-in class art assignments
Participation (10%)
-
worth 10% of quarter average
-
includes the following types of assignments:
-involvement in classroom discussions & activities
-preparedness for class
-appropriate and effective use of class time
Test/Quiz (10%)

worth 10% of quarter average
-
includes the following types of assignments:
-quizzes or tests on terms and procedures
Sketchbook/Homework (10%)

worth 10% of quarter average
-
includes the following types of assignments:
-sketchbook assignments
-worksheets
-assignments to provide materials (ex. resource photos) for progress on class projects
ELA Writing (10%)
-
worth 10% of quarter average
-
includes the following types of assignments:
-written reflection based on project
-written responses related to class learning, assignments or projects
