~Principal’s Notes~

Welcome back!  I hope everyone had a restful summer break and is ready to begin a new school year.

A safe learning environment is a priority at Potters Road Elementary. Please review and discuss the Code of Conduct with your child(ren) as soon as you receive it. It is important that they understand the expectations and their responsibilities.

Please remember to check your child’s backpack and read and sign student agendas every night!

Important Reminders:

  • Doors will open at 8:15AM.
  • If students arrive before 8:15AM they will be sent to the Before School Program and parents will be charged for the child care services.
  • Busses drop off students at 8:20AM and Morning Announcements begin at 8:35AM.
  • Students who arrive after 8:40AM are considered late and must sign-in at the main office and receive a late pass.

Lunch:

  • Please do not drop off restaurant food for lunch during the school day (i.e McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy’s)
  • Please assist your child in selecting healthy food choices for their lunch.

Dismissal:

  • Walkers will be called to the foyer at 3:00PM.  Bus dismissal will begin at 3:05PM
  • Instruction does not end until 2:50PM and then students must prepare for dismissal.  Therefore, the main office will be unable to release students between 2:30-3:00PM unless it is an emergency or a note is sent in that morning.

Parking lot:

  • For the safety of all students, parents/guardians cannot pull into the bus loop during the school hours. (This includes Pre-K arrival and dismissal).
  • When dropping off students, parents can pull into the parking lot outside of the bus loop and have students wait until an adult can assist them across the crosswalk.
  • When bringing students who are tardy, picking students up early or dropping something off, please park in the parking lot-Not in the bus loop.
  • Please do not allow your child to get out of the car and cross the parking lot unassisted when busses are moving.

At NO TIME can a car pass a bus when THE LIGHTS ARE FLASHING-A fine of up to $350.00 can result.

Absences:

  • A written excuse must be brought in to the teacher after an absence or the absence will be marked illegal.
  • Phone calls to the school will be appreciated regarding tardiness or absences at 677-3602/3604.

Parent Visitors/Volunteers:

  • Parents are always welcome at Potters Road! For the safety of each child, visitors must sign in at the security desk and receive a visitor’s pass before proceeding to the classroom.

  • Please remember that photo ID is required!
  • Please leave instructional supplies, birthday treats, gym clothes etc. at the security desk. Students will be called down to pick up their items.
